Links I Liked [Public Procurement]

1. Freedom of Information does not go far enough campaigners say.

2. DIGIWHIST publishes comprehensive mapping of EU tender data. Very long and detailed. I interviewed Mihaly Fazekas, one of the authors for the Public Procurement Podcast.

3. Speaking of reports, SpendNetwork put out a very nice one on local authority spending called Spend Small.

4. Madrid city council wants to impose social clauses on its procurement contracts (Spanish only). The council claims this will solve the mounting garbage issues. I remain bearish on this possibility as I cannot see how adding social clauses will solve the underlying problem.

5. The cost of ditching Windows XP is than €10,000 per person. That is the cost of vendor lock in, something we do not talk near enough in public procurement settings.
